THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE & REIKI THERAPY

Massage

Comfort Touch Massage

Comfort Touch is a style of massage developed by Mary Kathleen Rose, certified massage therapist, that gives special consideration to the physical and emotional needs of the elderly and/or ill client. Its primary intention is to provide comfort through techniques that promote deep relaxation and relief from pain.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.

Some of the same strokes are used as in swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is essentially the same as a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes.  The primary purpose will be to help you relax, and the therapist moves at a slower pace and uses lighter pressure.

During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. Sometimes people even fall asleep during a relaxation massage.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point massage is specifically designed to alleviate the source of muscle pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. In this type of massage, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.  Once the trigger point has been identified, the area is massaged to release the constricted area and client should feel pain relief.
